Examples of Sexual Abuse

  • Constant sexual demands
  • Forcing unwanted sexual acts
  • Insisting on unwanted and 
  • Uncomfortable touching
  • Committing rape or incest
  • Forcing sadistic sexual acts
  • Treating others as sex objects
  • Making demeaning sexual remarks
  • Forcing family members to see pornographic materials
  • Unwanted sexual video taping or picture taking
  • Calling fat, ugly, no good in bed
  • Wanting sex after abuse
  • Forcing to have sex with others
  • Forcing pregnancy or abortion

Rape and other forms of sexual assault occur when a person forces another into unwanted sexual acts. Force can be in the from of physical force, using guilt or threats, or use of drugs or alcohol to infuluence decision making.

 

Sexual assault is not about passion, lust, or love; rather, it involves power, control, anger, and violence.

 

Both women and men are affected by sexual assault. Many people are survivors of sexual assault and nearly everyone knows someone who has been assaulted. Approximately 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will be sexually assaulted.

 

After An Assault

Go to the hospital. It is important to be treated for any injuries as well as any sexually transmitted diseases. Aso be sure not to bathe, douce, use the restroom, or brush teeth, or change clothes as this may destroy evidence.

Know the attack was not your fault. It is normal for survivors to have a variety of responses after an assault.


Sexual assault is an act of violence, not sex.
